|Description||Wator is the result of an assigment we got during a course of Bioinformatics in 1997 while we were studying Biology. We were taught Turbo Pascal during the course, and the final project we got from the teachers. We had to create a simulation like this:
SHARKS AND FISH WAGE AN ECOLOGICAL WAR
ON THE TOROIDAL PLANET WATOR.
THIS PROGRAM IS A SIMULATION OF
FLUCTUATIONS IN MAGNITUDE OF FISH AND
SHARK POPULATIONS ON A PLANET SOMEWHERE
BETWEEN THE STARS. THE SHARKS TRY TO
SURVIVE BY EATING THE FISH AND THE FISH
TRY TO AVOID THIS. TO HELP THE FISH
SURVIVE THE VIRTUAL OCEAN CONTAINS A
LAGOON WHICH IS FORBIDDEN TERRITORY FOR
THE GENERAL IDEA BEHIND THIS PROGRAM IS
THAT : Press <Enter> to continue
THE SHARKS EAT FISH TO
EAT AND BREED WHICH RESULTS IN A
LARGER SHARK POPULATION. THIS CAUSES
THE FISH POPULATION TO DECREASE
RAPIDLY. NOW LESS FISH IS AVAILABLE
AND SOME SHARKS DIE OF STARVATION.
SINCE A DEAD SHARK CAN''T EAT NO MATTER
WHERE HE IS IN THE UNIVERSE THE FISH
POPULATION GETS A CHANCE TO INCREASE.
UNTIL THIS STORY IS CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD.
I coded the UI, load/save and chart routines, while Captain did the engine and animation stuff. The sprites were drawn by Rogue. Source code included.
